A big thank-you to everyone who kindly supplied us with material to make poppies for this year’s Remembrance church displays. We now have all we need to put together a grand and fitting commemoration for the 11 November 2018.

Over the next two months, our branch standard will be on parade at many events round Norfolk: the Desert Rats memorial service on 17 June and, joining with other RBL branches, at the Royal Norfolk Show (28 June).

August will see our standard bearers Jim Sturman (Loddon) and Jonathan Sayer (Haddiscoe), with additional representatives from both branches, travelling to France to take part in the GP90 WW1 international commemorations. Jim and John have been undertaking many long sessions of foot slogging training for this event in order to be parade ready: some days, they understand, will be up to twelve hours non-stop.

The whole GP90 commemorations will end with a moving tribute to the Fallen at the Menin Gate. We are proud and honoured that both Jim and Jonathan have been selected to represent Norfolk on our behalf, and we wish them well for what will be a moving and memorable few days.

This year’s Outdoor Bowls tournament date has been finalised for Sunday, 2 September at the Swan Bowls Club: sign in at 2.00 pm for a 2.30 pm start. Start practicing now!

Forthcoming branch meetings are all on Monday: 16 July, 20 August and 17 September. Usual venue, the Kings Head in Loddon, 8.00 pm start.
