Round the Parishes

— Tidings, October 2018 —

Harvest Festival.

The service for the whole benefice starts at 10.30 am on Sunday, 7 October in Kirby Cane. All Saints’ Church (CoE) can be found on Church Lane, the turn northwards off the main A143 road to Bungay almost opposite the south turn towards Kirby Cane / Ellingham and Geldeston.

The year so far …

“January saw our Village Dinner well attended as usual,” writes Ailsa Pringle, chair of the Stockton Parish Meeting. “The annual spring clean of the churchyard from the debris of the winter weather was again a success; the annual Litter Pick resulted in 19 bags of rubbish and recycling.”

Four years’ effort was concluded in August when the Bus Shelters were installed on the Norwich road. Thanks to all who helped in any way. From 3 September, Merchant Navy Day, Stockton flew the Red Ensign for a week to show our support.

A Juicing Day, when those with a surplus of apples can turn them into juice for the rest of the year, has just been held. Now we’re looking forward to our Christmas meeting and social evening.

A deadline.

Wednesday, 31 October 2018, is the deadline for residents of Ellingham parish to apply for 2018-2019 grants to the United Charities. Forms are available from Kirby Cane Post Office. They should be completed and returned to Mrs A. Chapman.
