Bus services and Mobile libraries
Gillingham – and Stockton, with its new bus shelters – are the lucky ones. Each day, including Sundays, there are numerous buses between Norwich and Beccles. These days, moreover, most of them travel the fast route (not via Hales, Raveningham, etc).
Over the past ten years, those of us living in Geldeston, Ellingham and Kirby Cane have seen the buses passing through our villages halve in numbers, from ten to only five a day. Protests from parish councils led to the addition of one early and one late free (Council-subsidised) service by BACT. The other five services were under-used, making them an easy target to cut. Use it. Or lose it.
