At the last Parish Council meeting, on Monday, 17 SEPTEMBER 2018, councillors discussed a number of issues of importance to the village, including parking at Ellingham School and waste and fly tipping.
Residents reported issues of litter and fly tipping at Ellingham Mill during August, which had been resolved by the intervention of a public-spirited walker, for which the councillors were very grateful. Following the success of a litter pick in the spring, another was planned for the autumn period, and a date will be publicised soon – Ellingham Mill will be on the litter picking route.
Residents also reported fly tipping of construction waste near to the junction on the south side of the A143 in Kirby Cane. Unfortunately, this is a national problem and the parish council is seeking advice about how to proceed with clearing the waste.
The parish council is pursuing the aim of providing more parking for the school and for the updated playing field and is looking at what different options may be available. Councillors are keen to resolve the persistent parking problems for the safety of all residents, and particularly the children using the school and playground facilities.
Councillors were also able to ratify changes to the plot holder agreement with members of the Newgate Allotment Society, which would come into effect following the necessary notice period.
The next Parish Council meeting will take place in the Kirby Cane Memorial Hall at 7.30pm on Monday, 19 November, and councillors hope that residents will be able to come along to the meeting and let them know of any concerns or problems that they may have.
Please note that there will be parish and district council elections on 2nd May 2019 and further information will be available soon.
There is a vacancy for a parish councillor, and if you are interested in standing for co-option, or have any queries about any aspect of Parish Council business, please let me know.
