Gillingham St Michael’s.
Our new Reception children are off to a flying start and have settled in beautifully.
Skylarks enjoyed a visit from Rev. Reg Kirkpatrick and discussed their Religious Education topic “How do Christians Pray?” The children asked him plenty of questions: Why do we sing hymns? Why do you put a cross on our foreheads? What is your favourite Bible story? And how many times a day do you pray?
We are all looking forward to the rest of the term which promises to be an exciting and festive time, starting with a Quiz Night at the Gillingham Swan on the Wednesday 7 November. Then comes our Seasonal Craft Fayre on Friday, 23 November in the School Hall from 5 to 7pm. Both events are organised by our terrific team of Friends of Gillingham St Michael’s.

In the Summer we were delighted to be graded as Good by Ofsted, and we were also graded as Good by the SIAMs team, which is the Inspection for Church Schools.
It is now the Autumn term and we have already raised £81 for Jeans for Genes Day in September, and £405 for the MacMillan Coffee morning in October.
The children have built a beautiful Nature Garden and the fish in the ponds are doing well. They are also learning about The Victorians, The Ancient Greeks, Traditional Tales, Habitats, Light and Sound. The children are also taking part in local sports competitions and have competed in a football competition and a cross country competition.
Before half term, we held our school Harvest Festival and the children brought in a wonderful range of foodstuffs for our Harvest Display, before we sent it out into the community.
On 14 December, the older children will perform their annual Christmas Carol Concert at Ellingham Church.
