The organisers would like to thank those who visited the Photo Archive Exhibition on an extraordinarily hot Saturday afternoon in October and all who helped contribute to the success of the event. The proceeds have been donated to the Memorial Hall for further improvements.
The Computer Club helped to copy and display part of our existing collection; many new photos were loaned, and some fascinating information gained. One exhibit was a sketch of the Ellingham Steam Mill by Vivian Harvey, husband of Alma Harvey. It was brought for display by their sons Tim and Steve.
The base of the preceding windmill can be seen in the middle of the picture. Mill Road was named after the windmill which is clearly shown on the earliest maps. The chimney of the Steam Mill was demolished in the 1950s.
