Geldeston Speedwatch

Our Speedwatch team are enjoying an increasing level of proficiency and, more to the point, are gratified to note the growing appreciation of the village as speed awareness starts to yield results: making Geldeston a safer place to live and visit, not only for pedestrians, young and old, and for animals, but also for road users.

If you would like to join the teams as a full member (or a “reserve”) please contact Julie Dawnay 01502-712909.

KCE Computer Club

At the meeting on 15th November 2018 the remaining five members of the Ellingham and Kirby Cane Computer Club made the decision to close the Club. Despite many efforts to boost membership, not enough people came forward to make the Club viable. At the first AGM in May 2003 thirteen people were present.

It is with sadness that we tell you of the death of Jean Leech, on 2nd November at her home on Vancouver Island, Canada, aged 96 (writes Deborah Preston).

Jean lived in Newgate, Kirby Cane for over thirty years, in 1999 she moved to Ditchingham and very bravely at age 86 she emigrated to Canada to be with her sisters.

Jean’s two passions were Bridge and Golf, both of which she excelled at, becoming Lady Captain of Bungay Golf Club in 1988. She worshipped and served at All Saints church, as a PCC member and as a sidesman for many years. We will remember Jean for her smile, her sense of humour, and her great kindness. A true friend.
