The parish council would like to thank Mrs Easter for helping keep the brick bus shelter respectable on Loddon Road (Cllr Mrs Brown said that she was happy to take this on for the future); thanks also to Trevor Bryer for his continued sterling work, collecting litter from around the parish.
Minutes of Last Meeting: Matters Arising –
The request for repairs to the steps at Dunburgh leading down to the River Waveney has met with success. The parish council agreed unanimously to donate £100.00 towards the cost of the work.
May Election of Parish Councillors –
Cllr Black said she would not be standing for re-election but would continue to volunteer where required. Having been on the council for several years she would like to see other people coming forward and fresh ideas being introduced. Applications to become a parish councillor must be delivered to South Norfolk Council offices in Long Stratton by 4.00 pm on Wednesday, 3rd April.
Flooding in Kings Dam –
having investigated the matter in depth the NCC Highways Department are now pursuing the developer to remedy the situation. So far, no response has been forthcoming.
River-bank rubbish –
Cllr Black thanked Mr Warman for his help in getting the rubbish, of which there was a substantial amount, in one place in three large piles. A boat from Geldeston is going to help move the rubbish to a site where it can be picked up. The River Waveney Trust plan to do further annual clean ups.
The Gillingham Litter Pick will take place on Saturday 20 April. Dates for obtaining the necessary equipment from South Norfolk Council were getting booked up and this was an available date. Meeting point and time: 33 Kings Dam at 9.30 am, returning at 11.30 am for coffee and cake.
Cllr Massingham said the playground gate had been put back but would need replacing in the future. It was getting too heavy for the posts which were deteriorating. There was no need for immediate action.
The telephone box on The Street has now been removed.
Complaint received about the advertising on static vehicles around the McDonalds roundabout.
