<<Tidings, May 2019>>
The Parish Council met on 10th APRIL 2019, for the Annual Parish Meeting.
Eleven members of the public were in attendance. Vice Chairperson Alison Norman delivered a report on behalf of the Parish Council, thanking her fellow councillors for all their work over the past year.
Past year’s activities: funding support for the Village Hall refurbishment; attempting to secure a safe exit from the new Kells Meadow estate onto Old Yarmouth Road; introduction of the village Speed Watch campaign and a request, jointly submitted with Ellingham & Kirby Cane Parish Council, for a mobile Speed Awareness Machine.
The Council expressed its thanks to the Clerk, to the parish volunteers,
especially on the Green Project and Allotments on Station Road, and the periodic Litter Picks around the village.
Elections: two councillors, Alison Norman and Robin Ashe, are standing down; John Crowfoot, is joining the council. That still leaves two vacancies.
Let’s Play, Geldeston! On the recommendation of the project team, the Council shortlisted the best two of four suppliers, based on design ideas and value for money. The project team are currently seeking your views and feedback in order to which supplier should be chosen.
The villagers attending the meeting looked at the design ideas and supplier equipment brochures, displayed in the Village Hall. For a final chance to give your views, please look at Parish Council website.
Good and bad in Geldeston – a discussion
Positives : Village sign being repaired; Green Project and allotments, Parish Council covered its water costs this year; considerate dog-walkers; our Village Green and its summertime activities; wildlife and the famous unpolluted Geldeston night sky; two lovely pubs.
Negatives : Speeding within the village; poor visibility of Give Way sign at The Street-Geldeston Hill junction; shooting on the marshes; too much litter; poor broadband speeds.
Councillors Norman and Ashe were given a parting present in recognition of their work for the Council and the village. We are sorry to see them go.
Date of next meeting: Wednesday 15th May 2019 at 7:00 pm, the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council.
Mrs Tina Page, Clerk to the Parish.
