Royal British Legion

<<Tidings, June 2019>>

On 6 June we remember all who fought for us on the Normandy D-Day beaches in 1944. This year marks the 75th anniversary of that battle. If you pass through Loddon, pause outside Young’s funeral directors in Bridge Street where there will be a magnificent window display of photos and memorabilia marking the town’s commemoration.

In May we noted the passing of two long-term local Legion members: some may remember Harold Pynes as a past President of the old Shipdam branch; Arthur Chittock was landlord at the White Horse pub in Chedgrave. Our thoughts and condolences go to both their families and to all who knew them at this very sad time.

The next two branch meetings, on Tuesdays, will be held on 21 June and 18 July at the King’s Head, Loddon starting at 7.30 pm. For Legion advice and information, please call Colin Hartley (01508-521136). We welcome new members, even if you live outside the Loddon area.
