Kirby Cane & Ellingham Memorial Hall

We need more TRUSTEES and HELPERS!

(March 2020) Calling all residents of Kirby Cane, Ellingham and the “area of benefit”. We need more people to serve as trustees of the hall, as a member of an existing user group or as a co-opted member selected by the committee.

At present there are four elected officers:

Chairman: John Cook; Vice Chairman: Michael Skipper
(John and Michael are also the Parish Council Representatives.)

Secretary: Sarah Oldham; Treasurer: Heather Boyd

The hall administrator and cleaner (a remunerated post) is Sandra Blake.

“There shall be five elected officers,” says the Constitution of the village hall, “two Parish Council representatives and a representative from each user group” (of which there are currently ten).

In practice, only one person from the ten user groups is usually present at a meeting. This leaves the committee very short of members, particularly when an important vote must be taken. In addition, there is presently one co-opted member: the Constitution allows for up to four co-opted members.

The committee meets once every two months.

All trustees are volunteers. They work hard to keep the hall well maintained, to make improvements, and to ensure it remains on a sound financial footing.

Please consider offering your services, as a trustee or to help with fundraising activities. It is not a huge commitment. Contact John Cook on 01508-518301 if you can help.

The next meeting is on Thursday, 2 April 2020 at 7 pm

Just ask yourself:
“What would we do without our Village Hall?”
